From 4 to 8 December, Spoleto is preparing to welcome a new celebration of culture and entertainment. The Festival dei Due Mondi presents Racconti, a special winter programme featuring five days of events, music, theatre and literature, bringing some of the most prominent figures from the Italian and international cultural scene to the city.
Under the artistic direction of Daniele Cipriani, the festival offers a journey between past and present, exploring major themes such as love, family, spirituality and contemporary society.
Among the most eagerly awaited guests is Patti Smith, who will open the festival on 4 December with Words and Music – Where Francis Walked, an acoustic performance blending music, poetry and personal memories, also paying tribute to the figure of Saint Francis.
The programme will continue with Paolo Crepet, Barbara Alberti, Gianrico Carofiglio, Paolo Del Debbio, Michele Mari and Maria Grazia Calandrone, who will take part in discussions and encounters dedicated to literature, current affairs and the major issues of our time.
Theatre and music will also take centre stage. On 6 December, Rocco Papaleo, together with poet Franco Arminio, will present Siamo ancora qui, while on 8 December Simone Cristicchi will bring the festival to a close with the musical reading Noi che fummo con lui – Sulle tracce di Francesco.
The literary events will take place in the afternoon at the Teatro Caio Melisso Carla Fendi, while the evening performances will animate the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti. Racconti offers a wonderful new opportunity to discover Spoleto through culture, at a time of year when the city is particularly enchanting.
